Penny Blue

Penny Blue is a single-estate rum from Mauritius, named after the rarest stamp in the world. Penny Blue is often described as a whisky drinker’s rum. Released without any added sugar, the naturally drier finish gives the spirit a more grown-up and delicately complex character.

Penny Blue is available via Berry Bros. & Rudd Brands in the UK and internationally.

Single Estate

Penny Blue is a single-estate rum, which allows for control over every detail: from the land upon which the sugar cane is grown to how the spirit is distilled and aged.

Sugar Cane

The estate is perfectly situated in the sunniest part of the island with low levels of rainfall. These are optimal conditions to produce the island’s juiciest sugar canes as the basis for superior quality rum.

The Casks

Once distilled, the rum is filled into ex-Cognac, ex-Whisky and ex-Bourbon casks to age and then blended together.

Full amber-gold in colour, the nose is fresh and well balanced with a subtle smoky wood spice and a touch of tobacco. The palate is mouth-filling and generous, dominated by sweet fruits, wood spice and cooking spices. A very long finish is reminiscent of prunes macerated in well-aged rum.

Deep and enticing amber in colour, Penny Blue VSOP has notes of marmalade, melon skin and cloves. The palate is soft and luxuriant with hints of glazed fruits, cedarwood and spices.
